GSMS Schooner's Corner

This area of our site is provided to our Sister club the Great Schooner Model Society (GSMS). Many of the SIMBC membership are also active members of GSMS. A few of the racing events are conducted jointly.
As more information becomes available, the GSMS Schooner's Corner will expand. GSMS is under the leadership of Commodore George Surgent

Report from Commodore George Surgent

We had our annual planning meeting/lunch in Solomon's on November 9, 2009. Nine skippers and three mates were in attendance. The award for top racing honors went to Al Suydam with 75pts, 2nd place to Rob Dutton with 31pts and 3rd to Herb Jones with 24pts. Due to one weather cancellation and the September scheduling of the National Vintage Regatta at Solomon's we had four regattas to earn points . This years regattas were well attended averaging eight schooners per event. In addition to racing honors the annual " Mark Steele , Windling World, Fun and Friendship Award" was presented to Ed Hoffman who has enthusiastically intrduced r/c schooner sailing to our friends at Lake of the Woods in Virginia. Congratulations on another great year.
