Mike's Mast #3Mike's Mast #2 I used a clear piece of pine that was 1x2 inches and as long as you wish the mast to be. Used a table saw to cut a 1/8 groove and then used some 1/16 by 1/4 pine to cover the groove. Use a 1/16 piece of balsa as a spacer to align the first 1/16 by 1/4. When dry I used a playing card to align the remaining space. The sail used double sided tape to hold a covered piece of fishing leader or other steel line as the leading edge of the sail. When this is inserted into the groove it will not pull out and if you plan ahead and leave a small piece of the wire at the head you can space it without any up or down haul.

The above information is provided by member, Mike Musatow, on how to approach the build of a slotted mast. Once the basic process is complete the next step would be to form the mast as desired.
