MORE ABOUT ME...

I am married to a lovely woman named Audra, who has put up with my insane hobbies and interests for over
25 years. Together we have 2 wonderful children (although they are not much like children now) Philip and Jennifer.

I have a lot of interests but have always been fascinated with building things. I joined this site because quite some time ago I purchased the plans
and keel for a Chesapeake Bay Skipjack and recently completed it. I currently have 4 boats that I have built at home now. One is based on the
plans for the Ariel from the RC Modeler library (I believe a Vintage 36 - using the sails from a plastic hulled soling), an RC Motorized Runabout
also built from plans in the RC Modeler library, the Chesapeake Bay Skipjack 48, and an RG65 based on the Palo de Agua plans. I currently have 2
other boats on building boards at this time, one is a surprise, and the other is a Vintage 36 based on Al Suydam's plans and design. My hope is to
have the Vintage 36 completed in time for the National Regatta this fall.

Some of my other hobbies include sailing/boating in general, motorcycles, metalworking, and anything electronic or dealing with computer control.
I currently own a Wellcraft 20' Cuddy Cabin, and in the past have owned and restored a variety of boats including a 20' Ensenada sailboat, and a
Cal 25 sailboat.

I have taken a strong interest in Computer Numeric Control (CNC) and as such I have taken a 1967 Bridgeport Milling Machine and converted it
to a full 3-Axis CNC Milling Machine. Many of the parts on my boats have been designed, drawn, and machined by me using this machine. In
addition I have a South Bend Heavy 10 Lathe.

I won my first race today! Who'd have thought that racing model sailboats could be so exciting.

On the race prior to my first win, I finished second to Tommy Younger by a fraction of an inch. It was exhilarating to hear the crowd at the museum dock actually getting excited and into the races as well. We had a good crowd and they could be heard cheering as the boats rounded each mark.
